Advisory Group

The work of the programme is directed by a National Advisory Group chaired by Dr Andrew Cubie who has led Scotland 's Health at Work's development, for the last 8 years.

Dr Andrew Cubie CBE FRSE LLD WS

Andrew Cubie graduated from Edinburgh University in 1967 joining the long established law firm Fyfe Ireland WS of which he is still a Partner. He has been variously Chairman and Senior Partner of that firm having specialised in Corporate law. He has been active in legal education throughout his professional career having been Chairman of Governors of George Watson's College and is currently Chairman of the Court of Napier University.

He holds a number of non-executive Directorships in public and private companies ranging from investment trusts to companies manufacturing freezers and highland dress. He is a former Chairman of the Confederation of British Industry in Scotland, having held that position between 1995 and 1997. Since then he has been a member of the McIntosh Commission which made recommendations for the reform of Local Government in Scotland and the Consultative Advisory Group, a cross-party/community group which developed the working arrangements of the Scottish Parliament. He was Convenor of the Independent Committee of Inquiry into Student Finance in Scotland ("the Cubie Committee") which brought about the abolition of tuition fees.

He is the Chairman of Quality Scotland an organisation committed to business excellence. He is also Chairman in Scotland of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, British Council, British Executive Service Overseas. He has chaired the Advisory Group of Scotland's Health at Work since its establishment in 1996.

 



Dr Andrew Cubie
